5 Ways to Support Indie Authors--Without Spending a Dime

The publishing industry is changing! Some see that as a good thing, others... not so much. I think it's amazing! So many authors, especially BIPOC authors, are getting their chance to have their voices heard and stories told without the stumbling blocks of traditional publishing.
But the world can be rough when you're an indie author. You don't have the well-oiled machine of a traditional publishing company moving the wheels forward for you. Indie authors have to figure out a lot on their own. It means there might be some pretty tough hurdles to getting your name and your work out there.
Getting your books in front of readers is a challenge! I know I've been reading and researching every marketing and advertising article I can find as I prepare to launch my debut novel, "Shifted." Holy frijoles, it's intimidating and overwhelming.
As a fellow indie author, I've been trying to focus my attention on supporting other indies. But, like most people, I have a limited budget for books and not a ton of free time. Which means I can't always support them with books bought and pages read. So, I found a few ideas and I want to share them with you.

Here's 5 (free) Ways You Can Support Indie Authors:
1) Leave book reviews on Goodreads, Amazon, and wherever else their books are sold.
2) Follow them on social media and interact with their posts (like and comment).
3) Sign up for their newsletter.
4) Tell your bookish friends about them, in real life and on Booktok/Bookstagram/etc.
5) Call your local library and bookstores and ask them to stock their books.
Here's to supporting our favorite authors! How do you support your favorites? Share in the comments!
All my love,
Haven
